Our widest rolls. A 5m width covers a large lawn in a single drop, which means no seam and no colour difference down the middle. The ranges made this wide are listed here.

Thirteen ranges are made in a 5m width, from Talya 30mm at £8 per square metre to Dluxe 40mm at £21. A 5m roll covers a lawn between 4m and 5m across in one drop: a 4.5m by 8m lawn is a single 5m by 8.1m piece, 40.5m², with no join to tape and nothing to hide. Using a 4m roll for the same lawn means a 4m piece plus a 0.5m strip and an 8m seam, for about the same amount of grass.

Big lawns show pile direction more than small ones, so lay the roll with the pile leaning towards the house and run any unavoidable join along the length, beside a border or path. Which artificial grass comes 5m wide?

When should I choose a 5m roll?

When the lawn is between 4m and 5m across. It avoids the strip and the join a 4m roll would need and usually works out cheaper once tape and labour are counted. Wider than 5m always needs two pieces.

Where does the join go on a lawn wider than 5m?

Run the join across the lawn in the direction you look at it least, usually parallel to the house, with the pile on both pieces facing the house. Joining tape and adhesive under the seam, and the roll widths guide shows the layout.

Is a 5m roll harder to install?

Only to move. A 5m by 8m piece is around 100kg and needs three people or a trolley to get it into position. Once it is down, the base, cutting, pegging and infill are the same as any other width.
